Overview of the Wine
On February 22 1965, David established the modern era of winegrowing in the Willamette Valley when he planted his first vines. David was soon joined by his new wife Diana, and together they planted and expanded their estate on a former orchard in the Dundee Hills. Their plantings focused on the first Pinot noir and Chardonnay in the Willamette Valley, but also the first Pinot gris commercially planted outside of Europe, and other cool climate varieties.
What to name their fledgling enterprise was another challenge. David and Diana were deeply impressed by the vibrant ecosystem surrounding their new site. Inspired by a pair of red-tailed hawks who made their nest (eyrie) in the fir trees at the top of the vineyard site, and who kept them company as they worked, it was Diana who christened their fledgling endeavor "The Eyrie". This original planting was the first of our five estate vineyards (FROM THE 1960's and 1970's)
Jason Lett continues Eyrie’s innovative legacy today, introducing new varieties and creating what the Wine Advocate calls “some of the most fascinating wines on the planet.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
There is a particular buoyancy to this wine’s structure that accentuates aromas of lemon curd, crushed apple and hydrangea. Perfectly balanced and just the right amount of weight, this wine screams for cheese, fresh pineapple, or grilled white fish.
96 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Chardonnay The Eyrie features gorgeous aromas of lemon curd, honeycomb, baklava, and exotic spices. The medium-bodied palate balances intense, concentrated fruit with tangy acidity, and its mouth-coating texture drives the long, savory finish.
95 Points - Wine Enthusiast
The Eyrie selection is built from some of the original vineyard plantings. It's a rich and at the same time steely wine, tightly wound with dense flavors of compact tree and tropical fruits. Eyrie white wines show more tannins than most, along with a strong component of lemony herbs. Built to age, this wine should continue to improve over the next 10 to 15 years.
