Overview of the Wine
In the village of Cetamura del Chianti, near Badia a Coltibuono, the Etruscans practiced viticulture, as attested by the archaeological discoveries made during the fifty-year excavation campaigns of Florida State University, under the guidance of Professor Nancy De Grummond.

The village, surrounded by walls, was still inhabited at the time of the foundation of the monastery.

In 2000, the conversion of all the vineyards the conversion to organic farming has been completed.

Since its inception, Badia a Coltibuono has been a center devoted to meditation, hospitality and the production of wine and oil. Traditions still carried on today by the Stucchi Prinetti family and their collaborators.

Organic.

Winemakers' Tasting Notes
Golden amber and brilliant color. The aroma hints at honey, toasted almond and dried fruit. Sweet and rich taste, balanced by vibrant acidity. Candied fruit, citrus, apricot and dried figs are the dominant notes. Very long persistent finish.

Pairs well with typical Tuscan desserts. Excellent with blue cheeses or liver paté. Recommended serving temperature is 12-16°C (53,6°-60,8°F).

96 Points - Wine Spectator
The organic Badia a Coltibuono 2015 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico (in a 375-milliliter bottle) shows a shiny dark amber color with aromas of brown sugar, canned fruit, sweet wood and cedar. This precious dessert wine is made from equal parts Trebbiano and Malvasia and boasts a caramelized flavor profile and a rich, glossy finish. The fruit is air-dried, and the wine ages in tiny barrels for seven long years. Production is 9,500 bottles.

91 Points - James Suckling
This shows a nutty character with hints of white chocolate, caramel and dried apricots. Full-bodied and sweet with a polished texture. A little chalky, almost tannic on the palate, with vivid acidity. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
