Vangone Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California, 2016
Overview of the Wine"Much of the enjoyment of the journey producing Vangone Estate is due to whom you share it with. We are blessed to share it with too many great friends to name who have been integral in our ability to chase our dreams, but none more so than the wonderfully thoughtful and collaborative efforts of Vineyard Manager Mario Bazan, Winemaker Sam Kaplan and most importantly our family Patriarchs Ron & Karen Davidowski. Without them the vision of Vangone Estate could not be realized."

Tasting NotesThis vintage the dark purple, almost black wine offers aromas of blueberry compote and dark berries, earthy dark chocolate with layered hints of pencil shavings, fresh cedar, English tea, cinnamon, truffles and lavender. The palate is voluptuously rich and densely mouth-coating while remaining elegant and super-integrated. It finishes with firm, persistent yet fine tannin. Often having heard it described as an "Iron Fist in a Velvet Glove", we feel our third vintage epitomizes what Vangone and the Napa Valley as a whole can produce.
96-98 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A barrel sample (expected to be in barrel three years), the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is very deep purple-black in color and a little closed on the nose, giving glimpses at notes of blueberry compote, Black Forest cake and crème de cassis with a waft of camphor, pencil lead, cedar chest, black tea and underbrush plus hints of truffles and lavender. The palate is full, rich and super concentrated, with a firm frame of grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing long and mineral laced.
