Overview of the Wine
A million things happened beforehand, but it began on a Saturday afternoon sitting next to an abandoned pool that looked out over a beautiful old cherry orchard…There, during a conversation that was atypically deep and surprisingly effortless, two people not looking for one another found each other and never looked back.
That is how the story goes, your heart tells you to leap and you leap not with closed eyes and fingers crossed, but with open eyes to witness it all and open arms to embrace it…Maybe we are a little bit of both. Either way, we started with nothing but our pockets full of optimism and a willingness to get in over our heads and somehow found ourselves in the middle of a dream. We are grateful to have two boys that remind us daily that there is no greater day than today, a piece of land with views Eden would envy, a wine brand that provides an outlet for our creative energy and of course, one another. That, and what is yet to come, is our story.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Remarkably fortunate timing allowed them to co-ferment Syrah and Mourvedre, Grenache and Mourvedre, and Syrah and Grenache from vineyard within the Willow Creek and Adelaida Districts of West Paso Robles. Following a nearly 5 week fermentation utilizing native yeasts, the lots were basket pressed and aged for 22 months in 300L French Oak barrels. The resulting wines are beautifully layered and complex. While unmistakably West Paso Robles in the texture and weight of the wine, its subtleties and nuanced aromatics and complex flavor profile no doubt link The Banshee to its Southern Rhone stylistic roots. We recommend a few hours in a decanter to allow the wine to open up in its youth. For those with room in the cellar, this wine will age beautifully over the next decade.
95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Leading off the Paso Robles Torrin releases, the 2015 The Banshee checks in as a blend of 40% Syrah, 35% Grenache, and 25% Mourvèdre that spent 22 months in a combination of 300- and 400-liter barrels, 35% being new. Rocking levels of black and blue fruit as well as subtle violets, spring flowers, and classic Paso Robles minerality all emerge from this layered, medium to full-bodied effort that shines both for its richness and elegance. Drink it any time over the coming decade. Drink through 2028.
95 Points - Vinous
Opaque ruby. Potent dark berry preserve, potpourri and incense aromas show excellent delineation and take on exotic Indian spice and smoky mineral nuances with air. Sweet and seamless in the mouth, offering concentrated yet surprisingly lively cherry liqueur, blackberry spicecake and violet pastille flavors and a musky touch of licorice. Smoothly blends richness and energy and finishes spicy and very long, with pliant tannins adding framework and closing grip.
