About the wines:
Auteur Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma Coast, 2018 - Showcase fruit, deep, dark, showing high standards and technical prowess. Saturation from rim to rim...depth without evidence of over extraction, rich texture and mouthfeel, bold Pinot Noir from exceptional sites translates into pleasure, richness, flesh and intensity. Grilled mushrooms, dry-aged meats, bold exotic cherry, cream caramel and orange peel on the rim...this is a hedonistic Pinot effort. 95 Points from Ian Blackburn.
RAEN Royal St. Robert Cuvée, Sonoma Coast, California, 2018- Aromas of red cherry, rose petals, violets, coastal forest floor, wet rock, and lifted red and black berries fill the bowl. Black tea, damp sun-kissed earth, savory herbs, forest berries, and floral notes persist and harken back to the site where the grapes were grown. 96 Points from James Suckling.
Papapietro Perry Winery, Pinot Noir, Peters Vineyard, Russian River Valley, 2017- Deep, dark concentrated fruit flavors drive the 2017 Peters Vineyard. This is classic Peters Vineyard plus a little something else. An added touch of warm sunshine at crucial stages of harvest produced a lush, slightly decadent, full-flavored wine. The fruit profile: cherry. Cherries of all sorts. The nose gets us started with a heady blend of toast, sweet cherry kirsch and graham cracker. Luxurious dark cherry and caramel notes are joined by flavors of sweet tea and raspberry as you let the wine sit in your mouth. That is, if you can manage that. This wine is as delish and juicy as they come. But for all its impressive fruit, the cool morning fog influence at Peters Vineyard provides a racy line of acidity to keep the wine solidly on track. Great as it would be paired with anything pork, or even duck, this wine is also impressive on its own.
