About The Producer
Today, Winemaker Marcelo Pelleriti is a global reference in the enology industry, and the family's general manager and enologist. Marcelo developed his professional career in France and Argentina, establishing himself as a great interpreter of the terroir.
Guided by his wise master, Michel Rolland, Marcelo forged his own path by making wines that are recognized worldwide.
For more than 15 years, he has been in charge of harvests in Bordeaux at the Chateau La Violette, Chateau Le Gay and Chateau Montviel (properties also owned by the Parent family). Since 2001, each year he has resided in France from September to November.
Marcelo's extensive experience resulted in him becoming the first Latin-American winemaker to obtain 100 Robert Parker points for a French wine. He has also received high scores on Argentinian wines. A true music lover, Marcelo plays guitar when he's not at work during harvest season. In 2011, alongside his friend and musician Rano Sarbach, he created the rock festival Wine Rock.
The Pere Verge family, more than just being owners of Monteviejo, Château Le Gay and Château La Violette, are a family devoted to making exceptional wines of terroir, power and elegance. Following the hemispheric seasons, winemaker Marcelo Pelleriti and his team are producing world class wines both in Mendoza and Bordeaux.
The land comprises 130 hectares at between 1000 and 1200 meters above sea-level in Vista Flores, Tunuyan, 120km south of Mendoza city. The land’s slopes face the North and East giving them better sun exposure in the Southern Hemisphere. Ideal for high altitude grape growing.
Monteviejo counts on a gravitational system with a double selection table for bunches and grapes. The objective is to transport the raw material without using pumps, taking care not to damage it in any part of the process.
From the harvest to the bottling—passing down through barrels for ageing—the wine moves along the natural gradient. It is only the weight of the grapes that is used to move them from above to below.

Valle de Uco, Mendoza, Argentina
Deep purple-red. Its aroma is reminiscent of red berries, dark fruit and spices as well. Fruity and complex on the palate, with round tannins. Persistent finish. An elegant and complex wine.
This wine pairs well with pasta, stews, red meat and cheese.
91 Points - James Suckling
"A very fine and polished red with lovely tannins and subtle berry, chocolate and hazelnut character. Pretty length. Tiny amount of whole berry fermentation gives it a fascinating undertone. Drink now."
