Overview of the Wine

Louis Jadot is one of the largest and most famous wine producers and negociants in the Burgundy wine-growing region. The origins of the company date back to 1859 when the business was fouded by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. Over time the company has acquired plots of vines is some of the most prestigious vineyards in the region including Beaune Clos des Ursules, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Savigny Les Beaune and many more. Louis Jadot owns or directly controls 120 ha in the Côte d’Or, including over 90 individual vineyard sites, 84ha in the Beaujolais Crus and 18ha in the Mâconnais primarily in Pouilly Fuissé. Today the business is headed by Pierre-Henry Gagey, son of André Gagey, who was entrusted with the management of Louis Jadot in 1962 by Madame Jadot following the tragic death of her son.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
2017: A blend of 8 single vineyards, the Moulin-à-Vent 2017 presents a deep garnet-color. Its complex nose reveals aromas of violets, ripened red fruit and black pepper. The freshness of these granitic terroirs balances well the remarkable richness and texture. Moulin-à-Vent pairs perfectly with lighter red meat dishes.

92 Points - James Suckling (2017)
Shows berries and hints of fresh herbs. Wet earth, too. Medium-bodied, linear and tight. A solid 2017, despite problems with hail in July.

92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2017)

The 2017 Moulin-à-Vent wafts from the glass with a beautiful and incipiently complex bouquet of cherries, raspberries, candied peel and warm spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and pure, framed by velvety tannins and succulent acids and concludes with a sapid, subtly oak-inflected finish.

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2017)

This estate, which has vines in both Moulin-à-Vent and Morgon, is well known for its richly structured wines. This bottling from a blend of vines is full of tannins, ripe blackberry fruits and acidity. Its future is assured, so wait to drink until 2021.
