Making delicious wines of high personality is directly related to the difficult locations of the Hartford family's vineyard sources, the limited production of their bottlings and the varietals they use. "Character through adversity" is an expression that the Hartford family believes to apply to both people and grapevines, and they feel that surviving adversity builds character, and personality, in both. The Hartford Family makes wines under two marks, Hartford Court and Hartford.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Hartford Russian River Valley Zinfandel is showing aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, black cherry which are highlighted with hints of white pepper and allspice. Blueberry, red raspberry, nutmeg, and mocha flavors lead into a long, bright finish with supple tannins.

This Old Vine bottling features a beautiful nose of ripe strawberry, and crisp cherry skins with layers of herbs and pepper.  Red candy color with fresh forward red fruits mask the dense 15.5 alcohol that lies below this beautiful Zinfandel that displays plump and punctuated Russian River character. Color 13.5, Aroma 22.5, Body 22.5, Overall 32.5 = 91 points
