Overview of the Wine
The foundations for the success of the Graham Beck brand were laid in 1983 when the late Graham Beck purchased Madeba, a farm located outside the Western Cape town of Robertson. It was his ardent ambition to establish a world-class winery in this area that saw the erection of a state-of-the-art cellar and groundbreaking tasting facility, ensuring the growing reputation of Graham Beck Cap Classique as a leading international wine destination. The cornerstones of the Beck family ethos were entrenched from the very start – contributing to the passion and dedication that continues to drive the entire team today.

Two classic varieties are used for the base wines intended for the Graham Beck Cap Classique range. Chardonnay contributes fruit and elegance, while Pinot Noir lends complexity and length of flavour. Only the highest quality and perfectly healthy hand selected parcels are brought to the cellar. The majority of these grapes are sourced from the Graham Beck Robertson estate, whilst the rest is specially selected from other premium grape growing regions in the Western Cape.

Robertson’s other great natural asset is its diurnal range, one of the widest in the Western Cape. Most afternoons a cooling breeze comes in to offset the morning heat. “I love talking about it, because we can have a 38-40 degree Celsius day but at night we may need to dress warmly,” says Pieter. It’s precisely this diurnal shift (unique to the area) that is a significant contributor to the exceptional quality of the fruit.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Exuberance, flair and elegance in abundance are all hallmarks of this charming and exhilarating Rosé Cap Classique. A lengthy lees time resulted in subtle yeasty characters with a burst of fruit flavour. The fine, lively mousse is brisk on the palate, showing hints of oyster shell, fresh lavender and subtle hints of berry and cherry. Fun and versatile, yet simultaneously satisfyingly complex, the Brut Rosé is an anywhere, anytime Cap Classique.

This wine has a unique pale silver-pink hue. Aromas of raspberries, cherries and a few secondary whiffs of minerality. A lively mousse, but fine in the mouth, with subtle red berry flavours enlivened by bright acidity. Brisk, yet delicate on the palate, bursting with flavours of freshly crushed berries and hints of oyster shell. Flirtatious and fun, yet elegant and structured, it’s perfect for all seasons and settings.

90 Points - Decanter
This méthode cap classique (South African fizz made in the same way as Champagne) from SA stalwart Graham Beck has a lovely creamy red fruit and apple character, with a rich mousse and brioche finish. It has a vibrant raspberry acidity and a long finish. Great value.
