Overview of the Wine
The story of "Taralas Winery" has its own special interest, in many ways, as the Winery that is still in its adolescence has its roots in winemaking tradition of the Tarala family, going back to the early 20th century. The family, originating from Eastern Romulia, was grafted to the land of Imathia, when Nikolaos Taralas brought his viticultural knowledge to Greece. From him took the baton from his son Christos, who set up a production company, winemaking and marketing of wine products in Veria.
The quantity that Christos Taralas trafficked before the war is estimated at approximately 250 tons of wine. But during World War II they were confiscated
assets of the company, ending its existence. The next, business step, in the Winery sector, was to be taken by his son grandfather of Christos Taralas, Dimitris, a banker by profession, who as an experienced a viticulturist and producer, he never stopped making wine, as an amateur.
With privately owned land of 11 hectares in total, winery and knowledge, the new phase of creative presence of the Tarala family in the world of Vine and Wine. Now the company is making its new transformation to Taralas Estate.

This is a great alternative for Barolo lovers! It is medium bodied and has a similar structure, refined tannins and a long persistent finish. Plus, we’ve already aged the wine so you don’t have to.

Color 13/15 (on point with nice advancement), Aroma 23/25 - a balance of fruit, earth, spice, road tar, cherry skin fruit roll ups, mediterranean herbs and spices. Body 22/25 - nice advancement shows true character of varietal, appellation, and is decorated by vintage and time. Overall 33/35 - really an enjoyable wine that will encourage exploration of Greek wines; this one was built for a journey and succeeds. 91 points
