About the Winemaker
Dominio de Eguren was founded by the fourth generation of the Eguren family. Marcos Eguren is the winemaker and Miguel Angel Eguren is the general manager. The philosophy of the project is the selection and vinification of the highest quality grapes from contracted vineyards that the family controls in Manchuela. Planted on trellis, these vineyards of Tempranillo, Bobal, Viura (Macabeo), and Airén were selected by the family for their advanced age, poor soils, and unique microclimate.

The family performs a selection of the highest quality grapes and vinifies with a cold soak and stainless steel fermentation to produce young, clean, high quality, affordable Spanish wine.

About the Wine
The viticulture is sustainable - dry farming is employed and there is no use of fungicides, pesticides, and herbicides. On the leased vineyards in Manchuela, the Eguren family uses aggressive pruning and canopy management to reduce yields as much as possible while maintaining healthy balance in the vines. On the young vines from their estates, they employ their signature high density trellises which naturally reduce yields to up to one ton of fruit per acre.

The grapes undergo a short cold soak followed by a crush and fermentation at low temperatures in stainless steel. Malolactic is carried out in neutral barriques. The wine matures in neutral barriques for six months before being bottled after a light filtration.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
A more complex and nuanced wine from Dominio de Eguren that is the result of a more rigorous selection of grapes from lower yielding vineyards followed by a light ageing process. Mature fruit intermixed with spices and toasted coffee.

#36 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Best Buy of 2019
Ruby red with violet hues, clean and very brilliant. Fruity, raspberry, red fruits aromas; very characteristic of the variety. Light notes of vanilla and spice. In mouth the wine is medium-bodied with a good equilibrium of tannins and acidity. Finishes with notes of raspberry, vanilla and light notes of wood.

91 Points - James Suckling
Brambly, rich summer-berry and chocolate aromas with an earthy and tarry nose. The palate has a smooth feel with dark and dense, fleshy fruit. Rich and even. Drink now.
