Overview of the Wine
It was back in 2001 that the whole thing started: two wine-makers meet in the foothills of the Pyrenees, on the famous Cathar castle route: Jean-Luc Thunevin of Chateau Valandraud in St Emilion, and Jean-Roger Calvet, a native of Maury. Jean-Luc bought a small parcel to supplement Jean-Roger’s vines. The first vintage was made in a garage in an alleyway in Maury. Today the estate has grown to 65 hectares, and the garage has been replaced by an eco-friendly winery on the outskirts of town.
Wine from the Languedoc-Roussillon region is produced in the South of France, ranging from the Mediterranean coast to Provence. Cabernet, Merlot, Mourvedre, Grenache, and Syrah are some of the most important red grapes in the region.

65% Black Grenache, 35% Syrah
Made with black Grenache, this cuvée expresses Maury's terroir in all its plenitude, power and elegance; Followed by a selection of our best plots and barrels. Dense and structured, this cuvée is very anchored in black fruits and liquorice, the end of mouth is tasty

In the same ballpark as the 2016, the 2015 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Les Trois Marie is a magical wine that offers everything you could want from this region. Based on 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah brought up in a mix of Burgundy barrels and foudre, it offers a more mineral-driven, complex style compared to the sexier 2016 and has complex blue fruits, dried earth, garrigue, and obvious minerality. Deep, full-bodied, concentrated, and multi-dimensional on the palate, with flawless balance and remarkable purity, it's an awesome wine from winemaker Jean-Roger Calvet that's going to evolve gracefully for 15 years or more.
96+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Wow, utterly sensational, and one of the finest wines I've ever tasted from the Roussillon, the 2015 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Les Trois Maries is a blend of 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah that was vinified in concrete and aged all in foudre. Giving up utterly profound notes of black raspberries, licorice, toasted spice and that chocolaty minerality only found from this region, it has a huge palate, sweet tannin and a finish that won't quit. This should flirt with perfection at maturity, and while it doesn't come cheap (there's a scant 200 cases made), don't miss a chance to latch onto a few bottles!
