Overview of the Wine
The origin of the Domaine dates back to the 15th Century in Beaune, the epicenter of the Burgundy wine region. The headquarters of the estate are located in the Bastion Notre Dame, a fortification which was built in 1642 on the battlements surrounding the city of Beaune.
The Labet family, who as been deeply rooted in Beaune for 500 years, owns 25 Acres of vineyards from Meursault to Gevrey-Chambertin; the main holdings of the Domaine being Beaune Appellations near Chorey-Les-Beaune and Savigny Les Beaune.
Francois Labet has been at the helm since 1984 and the vineyards are organically farmed. There are no clones as only massale selection is used, mainly from the Beaune Coucherias vines. The entire vinification and barrel ageing takes place at Chateau de La Tour, with the same care and by the same team that produces their famed Clos-Vougoet wines. A whole bunch philosophy has been used since 1987 and the wines are aged using custom made barrels from fine-grained oak with a very light toast. This uniqueness contributes to steer the greatness of the wines produced for each vintage of Domaine Pierre Labet.

Beaune, Côte de Beaune, Côte d'Or, Burgundy, France
As the name "dessus" suggests, this lies above Les Marconnets, on the border with Savigny and at the beginning of the wooded Montagne de Beaune. Green-gold in colour, this hints at lemon puff biscuits, citrus drizzle cake and tarte tatin. The palate follows with green apples, stony minerals and buttered shortcake – lovely balance. The finish is lively, upbeat and focused with terrific energy – a fine flag-bearer.

A lean, tightly wound version, offering honey, apple, lemon and spice flavors. Intense, with a creaminess that emerges with air. Fine length. Best from 2018 through 2027. 65 cases imported. –BS

As its name suggests, this vineyard is above the Marconnets, one of Beaune's top vineyards. Beautifully perfumed, it is ripe with orange zest, apples and a streak of delicious citrus acidity.

Historic ground by a historic family, this is an absolutely stunning Beaune single vineyard. Now with significant age, the wine has achieved a higher level - and think of 2013 as an absolutely fantastic vintage. Classic, long aging and detailed.. this wine has amazing complexity. Richer than many Beaune wines with great balance... enough oxidation and advancement to achieve higher marks... but still youthful. Everyone that tasted it - smiled and said "wow" - this is impossible to gauge in its youth... but now in 2020 - this is a wine to stock up on as the price is insane... and sadly the last time you will see this price going forward. Brioche, bruised apple, limestone, egg yolk, brown butter, wet stone.... fantastic.
