Overview of the Wine
In 1986, Eric Dhondt and Edith Grellet decided to stop selling off grapes to negociants and started Dhondt-Grellet. Their focus on farming translated into honest Champagnes from great holdings across the Côte des Blancs.
Their son, Adrien, now in his 20s, has taken over the winemaking and is quickly bringing his family's wines to another level. He has slowly increased the range of Champagnes produced by isolating their holdings across the villages of Cramant and Cuis and bottling pure expressions of Chardonnay.
With parcels in Cramant and Cuis, Dhondt Grellet focuses on producing superb wines from the Cote des Blancs. Adrien Dhont-Grellet, the son of the founders is currently in charge and makes the wines. He is focusing on biodynamic farming which has translated into vivid champagnes from great parcels across the Côte des Blancs.
Les Nogers is an evolution from the cuvée Vielles Vignes Selectionnees, which Adrien made for the last time in 2011. Starting with the 2012, Adrien started to bottle the wine under the name of the lieu dit - Les Nogers. Adrien’s parcel in Les Nogers is of old vines, now over 50 years old. It is a particularly interesting lieu dit because it is on the same hill as Le Bateau (Cramant) but in the village of Cuis

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
The 2012 Les Nogers cuvée from Adrien Dhondt is a Blanc de Blancs champagne that offers great aromatic richness and great complexity.
95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
95+ From a lieu-dit in Cuis characterized by chalky soils with pockets of sand and planted with 55-year-old-Chardonnay vines, the terrific 2012 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Les Nogers was disgorged in March 2018 with 2.4 grams per liter dosage. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of waxy lemon rind, verbena, walnut oil and oyster shell, it's full-bodied, broad and vinous, with a textural attack, a deep and concentrated mid-palate and a long, searingly chalky finish. Adrien Dhondt is clearly destined to play a very exciting part in the future of Champagne, and this bottle only confirms that
94 Points - Vinous
The 2012 Extra Brut Les Nogers Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs, 100% old-vine Chardonnay from Cuis, is fabulous. The radiance of the vintage and the natural richness these 55 year-old vines confer yields a super-expressive, structured Champagne full of personality and character. Dense and voluptuous on the palate, yet also nuanced, the 2012 has a lot to offer. In this tasting, it is superb. Tropical overtones, chamomile and honey add closing shades of complexity to this deep, vertical Champagne.
