Chateau La Nerthe "Prieure de Montezargues", Tavel Rosé, Rhône, France, 2017
Overview of the Wine
Tavel is a deeper denser Grenache based wine and 2017 is a very good vintage, it is ready to drink NOW. This price could be the daily sipper.
Near Tavel, concealed by a forest of Holm oaks and Scots pine, and protected from the Mistral by the Montagne Noire ("Black Mountain"), Montezargues Priory quietly ripens its grapes on sandy slopes that run down to Pujaut Pond.
Eight varieties flourish in the Provencal sunshine: Grenache Noir and Grenache Blanc, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan, Clairette and Bourboulenc
Grape / Blend
60% Grenaches Blancs et Noirs, 20% Syrah, 10% Clairette/Bourboulenc, 10% Cinsault
This rosé wine is bright with a fuchsia pink color. A rich fruity nose showing nice little red berries notes (raspberry and strawberry) . Fresh and balanced on the palate, rounded, then offering a deep finish with grapefruit notes. A Tavel rosé that is extremely pleasant, refreshing, and can be enjoyed on every occasion.
90 Points - Wine Spectator
Stylish, with a mix of peach, mango, cherry and blood orange fruit enlivened by a mineral streak, revealing a flash of tobacco in the background. Shows good range and length.
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Juicy and plush but pertly balanced, this full-bodied rosé offers sun-kissed strawberry and sour-cherry flavors offset by crisp acidity and an elegant herbal finish. Delightful as an aperitif or with food, it's a well-balanced, nuanced wine to enjoy now—2020.
