Chateau Chantelune, Margaux, Bordeaux, France, 2015
Overview of the Wine
This exclusive wine is one of the hidden jewels of Margaux. The property takes its name (which translates as “sing to the moon”) from former owner Mr. Soubrane, a woodsman and carpenter. When he decided to sell his outstanding parcel of vines to José Sanfins, he wished for his vineyard to remain independent. The small size of the vineyards allows Jose Sanfins to produce small quantities of exceptional fruit, therefore the best quality wine.
Grape / Blend
62% Cabernet Sauvignon
5% Petit Verdot
5% Cabernet Franc
Margaux, Bordeaux, France
Dark violet color. Inviting aromas of peony petals, dark chocolate, menthol, and sugared plums with a velvety, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium-full body and a warming, complex, medium-long cranberry, spearmint, salty prosciutto, ginger, and rootbeer finish with medium tannins and no oak flavor. A delicious Bordeaux that highlights fruit and spice.
93 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Owned and produced by José Sanfins, who is the manager at neighboring classed growth Château Cantenac Brown, this wine balances the elegance of Margaux with the richness of the vintage, giving swathes of black-currant fruit that has been lifted by the new-wood aging. Drink this wine from 2023. - Rodger Voss
