Challen Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County, California, 2018 (SINGLE VINEYARD)
Overview of the Wine
Challen Winery is a small Santa Barbara County producer of premium, single vineyard designated Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.
Their grapes are sourced from vineyards of distinction, whose owners share their passion for Pinot Noir, their commitment to quality and our respect for the land.
With Burgundy as their benchmark, they strive to produce world class wines, with every bottle expressing a sense of place, a reflection of the "terroir" unique to each vineyard from which it was born.
In this pursuit, they take a minimalist approach to the production of our wines.
Grape / Blend
100% Pinot Noir
Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County, California
This is a full bodied Pinot Noir. Deep ruby red color with aromas of bright strawberry, raspberry and cherry on the nose. Lavender and earth notes come to mind, as well. A hint of leather and black pepper adds a little spice to the mix. The mouth feel is silky and all encompassing with a nice balance of ripe tannins and lively acid. The finish lingers, as would be expected of a premium Pinot Noir.
