Bonaccorsi Wine Company produces limited quantities of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah rendered in the style and spirit of a small Burgundy domaine.
Grape sources are selected carefully from cool areas of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties in California's South Central Coast. Current grape sources include Sanford & Benedict Melville, and Fiddlestix Vineyards in the newly created Santa Rita Hills appellation, and Bien Nacido and Le Bon Climat Vineyards in Santa Maria Valley. At the winery, grapes and wine are handled carefully and minimally in an effort to capture and enhance the combination of grape variety and site. Bonaccorsi's objective is to produce wines that combine concentration with delicacy.
Grape / Blend
100% Pinot Noir
Santa Rita Hills, Santa Barbara, California
2013: Deep ruby, with brick highlights. Forest of mushrooms, moss and dark berries. Lovely mouth feel and weight. Complex flavors with a burst of acidity, zesty orange rind, strawberry. Savory with persistent finish. Made with 100% Pinot Noir.
2014: Beautiful and rich with subtle swirls of currants, cranberries, and vanilla. A blend of “Julia's,” “Melville” and “Cargasacchi” vineyards, all in Santa Barbara county. 14 months in neutral French oak. A pretty, floral nose leads to a mouthful of raspberry and cranberry, with mushroom, mulch and baking spices in a supporting role. Uplifting acid and smooth tannins. Slam-dunk for all fans of fuller-bodied Pinots.
2015: A blend of mostly Julia's vineyard, Melville, and a little Cargasacchi. 14 months in 100% French, neutral oak.
2016: Bright red fruit aromas are complemented by slight hints of forest floor and mushrooms. This is a racy, elegant, high-toned gem. The palate displays very fine grained tannins, along with vibrant acidity. It treads a fine line towards a village Chambolle profile, but quickly veers back squarely into the cool climate, California character that we've all come to know and love from this wine. Once again, it's going to be a crowd favorite.
90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2013)
Spice, plums, earth, underbrush and some herbal undertones all show from the 2013 Pinot Noir Cargasacchi Vineyard. It hits the palate with solid amounts of ripe black cherry and raspberry fruit, plenty of texture and a good, not great, finish. All from clone 115, completely destemmed and aged 20 months in 40% new French oak, drink this outstanding Pinot Noir over the coming 5-7 years.
