About The Producer
Bohème was founded in 2004 near the town of Occidental, 50 miles north of San Francisco Bay and 7 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

The essential tasks of grape growing, fermentation and aging are conducted by a dedicated team of vineyard and cellar workers. Four distinct soils and climates at elevations 600 to 1,250 feet give singular expression to each wine.

"We at Bohème devote our lives to winegrowing on California’s Sonoma Coast.
Our namesake Bohemian Highway meanders Sonoma’s Coast Range of redwoods, valleys and farms. Crafting wine from this place is a formidable, yet deeply fulfilling, endeavor.

The frontiers are numerous: vine nutrition, pruning technique, trellising, soil biology, cover crops, grape chemistry, fermentation, cooperage, èlevage and others. A complete grasp of but one can take a lifetime.

We take great efforts to expand our knowledge and bottle a most captivating wine, yet Mother Nature is the true maker of wine—and stands within each of a vintner’s moves. Indeed it’s nature’s unknown that gives magic to great wine."

Tasting Notes
This debut vintage from Kurt is named in honor of his charming Sonoma Coast hometown of over twenty years, Occidental, which used to carry the old moniker of West Pole. The 2017 West Pole is a blend of Bohème's single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, all of which are estate grown and aged 21 months in French Oak barrels. Medium bodied with expressive flavors of cranberry, red cherry, and hibiscus along with classic Sonoma Coast hints of clove, sandalwood, and dried bergamot. The tannins are finely integrated with fresh acidity and a balanced alcohol level of just 13.7 %, followed by a lovely, pleasure-inducing finish. 696 cases produced.

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast
A new offering from winemaker Kurt Beitler, this comes from estate-grown grapes, many of them also components of his single-vineyard Bohème wines. Perfumed in plum and cherry, the palate is juicy and textured, with a lovely length and hints of cardamom, clove and oak. - Virginie Boone

91 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2017 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast boasts a big, opulent bouquet of assorted red and black fruits as well as plenty of classic Sonoma Coast spice, dried flowers, and leafy herbs. Rounded, medium-bodied, and elegant, it’s an outstanding Pinot Noir geared for drinking over the coming 5-6 years. This wine comes from the English Hill, Taylor Ridge, and Stuller vineyards (all on the Sonoma Coast) and was 70% destemmed and spent 21 months all in used barrels.
