Overview of the WineF
Goldtröpfchen - "Little drops of gold."

Piesport lies in an impressive south-facing, U-shaped Mosel River bend. The ideal exposition is reminiscent of an open amphitheater. On one end of the grand slope is the craggy section, known as the Moselloreley (named after the better-known Loreley in the Middle Rhine), which optimally protects the vines of this great site from the cold north winds. The spicy, subtly sweet Rieslings from the deep-slate soil develop an animating freshness and can be be cellared for many years.

In 1966, with the merger of the three major wineries – Bischöfliches Konvikt (est. in 1840), Bischöfliches Priesterseminar (est. in 1773), and Hohe Domkirche (est. in 1851) – an estate was established that owns absolute prime vineyards: Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier.

Since its foundation, all three estates belonged to the Verband Deutscher Naturweinversteigerer (VDNV), known today as the VDP, or Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (Prädikat Wine Estates). As it was at that time forbidden for members of the auction circle to chaptalize quality wines, they decided to resign in 1971.

94 Points - Ian Blackburn

Clean, fresh, bright, focused, good weight, good concentration, benchmark green pineapple and fresh citrus - nice mineralogy - and just the right amount of residual - not sweet - but perfectly Kabinett.

Highly recommended - better quality - priced reduced - purchased at a discount and we share the savings with you.
