Overview of the Wine
This small wine region within Greece has family owned wine grape-growers and owners that strive in producing the best quality Xinomavro Wines out there! They were recognized as a wine growing region of Greece in 1971 with the PDO Naoussa designation. This means those wines with this designation is reserved for those wines produced from select Xinomavro grapes, grown in a specific way and with a specific yield in the approved-growing Naoussa zone. This zone covers a total area of 700 hectares and wines made here are grown according to the traditional Naoussa method. The vineyards are planted at altitudes of 150-350 meters. It is also the last grape to be harvested during harvest season stretching to the end of September.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
The first sense of aroma is that of wood of the barrel. Intense tannins are seen in the palate, but they blend harmoniously. Warm, mouth full with balanced acidity and persistent taste of red fruit and spices.

Pair with rich dishes, grilled or stewed, yellow spicy cheese and red meat.

I loved this wine in 2017 for its charm, but 2018 maybe an even better rendition. At its price – this remains impossible to beat. 2018 is a more plump and plush experience, with more perfume and punctuation. Xinomavro from Naoussa can be punishingly tannic and I find this version more dense fruit content allows the tannics to hide at least until the finish… This example keeps things in nice proportion and over delivers on value. The nose of floral like tar and roses, with herbs and spices. Red cherry, cranberry, red fruits… with a nice touch of earth, spice, and rustic character of the charming hills this fruit is farmed. The food in this region is LAMB and you will not be disappointed serving this with any combination of foods … and its enjoyable on its own. Never had the grape before – think Nebbiolo – Grenache like – but with more Greek energy and spirt… C: 14 A: 22 B: 23 Overall Impression: 32 = 91 points.
