Comment from buyer - WHAT A DEAL

Chenin Blanc from Vouvray ages very slowly and this 9 year old is in great shape.  This style is off dry + with some considerable residual sugar, but not a dessert wine per-se, unless you're having it with CHEESE (which is a great idea). The sweetness is not cloying and I think even anti-sweet people (we know them) will enjoy this style.    hat make it very easy to love and enjoy.  The price is amazing and I would have this with spicy asian Chung Pow chicken... or perhaps Asian or Indian curry.  The nose is honey-ed, pear, floral, and has notes of camomile tea, the mouth is ripe but gives way to chalky limestone terroir... plus acidity, plus finish.  88-90 points - IB

Overview of the Wine
Château de Montfort is a stunning estate located on the limestone plateau above the Loire River in the Touraine region. This historic property owns about 75 acres of premium quality land throughout the Vouvray AOC and Touraine AOC. The estate is somewhat unique in that most of its vines are located surrounding the winemaking facility in one large parcel. Average vine age is over 50 years, limiting yields and providing great concentration and depth in the wine. Château de Montfort is most famous for its demi-sec Vouvray – one of the great wines of the Loire Valley.

The gentle hills of Vouvray have stony slopes and valleys that have flinty-clay and limestone soils. The must is slowly pressed and selected during the pressing phase. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks with temperature control during almost 8 weeks. Fermentation is stopped to keep around 25g/L of residual sugar.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Chateau de Montfort Vouvray is an elegant, fine wine characterized by brilliant fruit aromas and excellent structure. Aromas of Granny Smith apples and Anjou pear dominate, with a hint of wet stone minerality. The initial fruit sweetness is perfectly complimented by a true zing of bracing acidity and minerality. The finish is long and satisfying, and the overall impression is of a tremendously refreshing wine.
