"New generations… New ways of making wine"

"The vineyards and the activity of negoce (making and selling wine produced from grapes not grown on the family property) have been in the Darnat family since the 19th Century.

Since 1985 Henri Darnat has been at the head of the family vineyards. During the ’90″s, along with his wife Marion, Henri started again the business of negoce enabling them to offer a wide range of Burgundy’s greatest wines: Meursault, Puligny Montrachet, Pommard, Volnay, Beaune, Monthelie, Auxey-Duresse, Bourgogne Chardonnay, Bourgogne Pinot Noir.

It’s now 11 years since my wife and I took over the domaine that has been run by my family since the middle of the nineteenth century. And it’s together that we are at the service of our wines and our terroir (a word meaning not only the land and its suitability for particular crops but also its nature, its very soul).

As worthy successors to our ancestors and in homage to them our vines are worked by hand without chemical fertiliser or herbicide.  Nothing but honest work keeps our soil full of life and health thus allowing the word terroir to achieve its full meaning.
Each one of our land parcels, according to its soil type, its climate, its aspect, gives our wines their subtle and differing aromas. And it’s this diversity, made possible by the dynamic soil unique to Burgundy that makes our Chardonnays and Pinots so full of flavor.

Our vinifaction philosophy is that of good sense and patience. Good sense and patience means having the courage to wait…
To wait, for the grapes to be fully ripe before harvesting, even if the weather forecast gives us some anxious moments…
To wait, for the wine to make, at its own speed, in its own barrel, not to rush it, to let it live and grow so that it reaches its apogee on our tables…
To wait, this is where experience comes in…
To wait, that requires frequent and assiduous sampling from our barrels…
To wait, that’s the joy of offering you wines which we hope are ever purer and more refined…
To wait is the pleasure of finally tasting them…

Tasting Notes
Pleasant on the nose with the aroma of red fruits (strawberry) and a slight peppery note. Aromas of red fruit along with a hint of pepper.
